We rented a farm

We rented a farm, okay we rented 10 acres. In July 2025 we moved into 10 acres just outside of Albury Wodonga. It was winter, it was cold and I just wanted to grow my veggie patch and enjoy being outside. I found out that very minimal veggies could be planted at this time of the year. I purchased some carrot, kale, broccli and cauliflower seedlings for a garden bed and then I planted some snow pea, carrots and broccoli seeds. It has been 11 weeks and I am yet to find anything ready to pick yet.
Then I got 2 chickens, some young isa browns roughly 2 months off from laying. But who stops at 2 chickens so the kids and I attempted to incubate 12 eggs….. and we failed. So we went and got 4 more young chickens. We started hearing weird noises at 3am… until those noises turned into full crows and we discovered 2 of our chickens are roosters.
We saw an ad on gumtree for 2 orphaned lambs on the bottle and I was so excited to feed them and believed that my 3 boys would love the experience too! I was so wrong, they got bored half way through feeds and stopped asking after their second or third feed and mum was left feeding these lambs until we weaned them. We got a phone call asking if we wanted 2 more orphan lambs and jumped at it. Upon picking up these lambs we found out they were actually goats but we had already driven there and they were so cute! More chicks coming on the 24th of September and no incubating involved. Just keeping them underheat for a few weeks until they are strong enough to join the coop.

So I guess that is our first post. Join us monthly for our updates on our hobby farm and travels xx
